I can absolutely see this being worn as an engagement ring. these beautiful old settings without prongs are incredibly easy to wear on a daily basis since there aren't prongs to snag on fabrics, etc.
likely dates to the early 1900s
many, many rose cut diamonds are set in a funky navette setting with the addition of several replacement diamonds (european cut) and a couple natural cut diamonds (rougher than rose cut)
13 diamonds total
very faint engraving on the shoulders of the band

in good vintage condition with wear consistent with an antique ring that was worn and loved for 100 years
no, you aren't imagining it, the ring's band hits the setting at a slightly different height on each side, so it gives the appearance of being lopsided
the center stone doesn't fully fill the setting, but I believe this to be an original quirk.
the diamonds are not uniform in color, cut, or clarity —most of the diamonds are rose cut, the diamonds just above and below the center stone are rough cut (no facets), and there is at least one european cut diamond (likely a replacement added at some point)
the gold has built up quite a patina, especially on the underside of the setting and there are significant scratch marks on the underside of the setting —I imagine from being cleaned by a previous owner. the lip of underside of the setting has a dimple/imperfection on the edge that sits on the finger (not sharp)
was previously sized leaving noticeable seams
